Atty's Attic

My attic is dusty and has a plethora of junk in it. I must say it's a fun place to hang out and look at what's rolling around in my head. If you don't mind the dust, I'd love to have you.

Skye Callahan shares a Klondike bar with me.

I am so excited to have in my attic Skye Callahan! Please come in, say hi to my sloth and introduce yourself.

So who are you and where did you come from?

I’m a paranormal, urban fantasy author from Ohio and according to my mom, she found me under a rock. 🙂

Obviously you’re a writer, what is the name of your book and the general plot?

My book is Fractured Legacy and it’s the first in the Darkness Bound Series.

Kaylyn Anderson’s fascination with abandoned places and dark creatures kindled her work as a paranormal investigator. But when dreams begin to distort reality, she questions what is real and pulls away from everyone she trusts. The opportunity to investigate the Teague Hotel–a long-abandoned landmark that has always piqued her curiosity–provides a chance to redeem herself. Unraveling the hotel’s secrets won’t be easy, but Kaylyn soon finds herself the target of a dark entity that has been trapped in the building for decades.

If Kaylyn stands any chance of defeating the spirit, she’ll have to accept that her fears are real and convince fellow investigators that she hasn’t lost her mind.

Where did you come up with the idea?

I’ve always been interested in the paranormal, so creating a set of characters with the same interests was pretty easy. Then the story developed around the characters.

Which of your characters do you like the most and why?

Jonah! I originally intended the story to center on Cole and Kaylyn, but Jonah came in and stole the show. He’s never quite what I expect, and I love that he can keep even me guessing.

Which one do you hate the most and why?

I don’t know that I hate any of the characters. Emerson is infuriating, but I can’t say I hate him. The entity maybe the closest to anyone I hate, but even I still don’t know much about the entity, where it came from, or its motivations–it might take us a while to figure all of that out.

You’re stranded on an island and you are granted three things;

The first thing you’re granted is an IPod with only one song loaded, what is it?

Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön (“This image is enchantingly lovely”)  from Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).

The second item is a book with the last chapter missing, what is it and who wrote it?

Logically, if the last chapter is missing, I probably wrote it. 😉 I really wouldn’t mind that situation if the book was the sequel to Fractured Legacy, then I could sit on the island and write the final chapter.

And the third thing you’re granted on this island is a lunchbox with a sandwich and a full thermos, yummy, what kind of sandwich and drink would you appreciate?

The drink is easy, Sweet Tea. Sandwich… I’m not a sandwich fan, but I’ll go with tuna salad. I’m not sure that would last long on an island though.

What is the biggest mistake you have made in your life? Not writing or publishing mistake – any mistake. Even if it happened in 3rd grade, I wanna know about it.

I have no idea. I don’t really keep track of such things. I once returned the wrong video to the rental store.

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

That depends on what kind of Klondike bar it is… well, no I’d rather have Handel’s Ice Cream. So, for a Klondike bar, I would say please.

And here ya go, since you said please. And I’ll have one too while you’re answering the next question.

You’re still stranded on that island and two people show up, the character you love the most, and the one you hate the most, and they both know what you said about them. What do you do?

Haha, well if anyone is going to protect me from the entity, I want it to be Jonah. So, I’d hide behind Jonah and let him steal the show!
